I opted to get this kind of a stool/chair for the music room, and it's perfect for playing guitar, and easy to adjust the height. I have 2 of them. The wheels work on hard floors and carpets just fine. The ring is nice to put my foot up, like on a bar stool. The seat is cushioned and soft, but not too squishy soft - it provides good support. We'll put a fun seat cover on it to match the decor of the room, and we'll be all set. I decided against the types of stools with the pneumatic height adjustment because this 'turn' type will never break - sometimes the simple, solid mechanical parts are better than newer technology. It's not an inexpensive stool, but it was worth the extra money.
