I had an old version of the same kettle. It had a different whistle structure in the way the whistle closed. The old one snapped close much tighter so that the whistle (which is terrific) worked almost all of the time. The new one doesn't always work unless one manually presses down the whistle mechanism of the kettle. I was disappointed in the new parts they are using for the whistle. It is still a pretty good kettle and better than many, but I'm disappointed when compared to the older one.
