We looked forever for an oval mirror that was actually made of wood - so many are plastic or foam - and have been satisfied with this mirror. It is wood, but as a previous reviewer said it is most likely MDF with a nice finish. I'm OK with that - MDF is used widely even in high-end furniture and cabinetry because it is so stable and easy to finish. The one thing I did not like about the mirror is the hanging hardware. It comes simply with two "keyhole" type holes drilled in the frame (and reinforced with a metal plate). So in order to hang this you would need to drill two level holes in your wall and have a hangar/nail in each. I find this tough to do. So instead I went to the hardware store and got some piano wire and "D-rings" (I think that is what they are called). I remove a screw from each of the keyholes in the frame, attached the D-rings in its place, and then ran the piano wire between the two D-rings. That way instead of having to drill two precisely located holes in my wall I was able to use one heavy-duty picture hangar in the wall and then hang the piano wire on the hook. I just wish this is how it came from the factory.
