I purchased this step after looking at larger and smaller step options for my 21 month old. I wanted her to be able to see what I was doing and "help" in the kitchen rather than always wanting me to pick her up. This step worked like a charm. She loves asking me to move it around so we can wash hands, make food, etc. She can easily climb up and down the step. It did take a few days for her to get used to it and learn that she needed to stand fairly still at the top of the step so she wouldn't fall. She's never left alone on it, someone is always right next to her which is necessary as a small child could step off the edge if they're not careful. Now that she's used to it she knows just how to maneuver on it and asks for help getting up and down when needed.
