I bought two of these units to put side by side above my couch in the living room. After assembling the first one which took about an hour the second only took about 25 minutes. If you use a drill or electric screwdriver to assemble be sure to use only the lowest speed or torque setting because the wood is of the laminate pressboard type and is very delicate, so the product can get easily damaged. To avoid scratching assemble on a soft carpet or tarp. You may want to have a damp rag handy to wipe down the shelves because as they come out of the box they are covered in a fine dust of packing material. Also be sure to look and see where the holes in the 4 beams line up, they need to be facing out for the wood laminate pieces to fasten onto with dowels. If you assemble the unit up to a certain point without making sure all holes are facing in their proper direction you will have to disassemble the entire thing to correct the problem. Besides that make sure you have a level handy especially if you are going to line up two units side by side on the wall. The unit comes with a separate support piece that screws into the wall first and then the shelving unit locks onto it. This makes getting it up on the wall much easier! If the unit is not level after properly securing the support piece, take the unit down and wedge a tiny piece of the styrofoam packing material in between the support piece and the unit to make it level. Make sure you drill screws directly into wall stud to prevent collapse. (A unit fully stocked with cds and dvds weighs a lot!!!) For even better support on sheetrock walls pick up some toggle bolts at your local hardware store. Overall I am very happy with this purchase. It looks great on my wall and if you don't look too close looks like real wood. Also it was a great price for the value (much cheaper than Ikea) Make sure you search around before buying, I got a wide range of prices on this one and finally got two units for the price of one unit from an overpriced seller.
